Voices of Angels – Salford Recovery in Motion

Date: June 23rd 2025

Our Recovery Artists in Salford have had a fantastic few weeks, including an amazing event that celebrated the energy of Rave Culture at the University of Salford! We welcomed dance students at the University into the session and shared inspiring stories about recovery, the importance of the arts on mental wellbeing, and our community at Fallen Angels.
We interviewed two attendees, Adam and Brandon, who attend our weekly Recovery in Motion sessions. Read all about their experiences below!
How long have you been attending Fallen Angels Movement sessions?
- Adam: I’ve been attending Fallen Angels’ sessions for 3 months now, and I’ve been a resident at Thomas in Salford for six months.
- Brandon: I’ve been attending Fallen Angels sessions for 7 weeks or so.
What do you get out of Fallen Angels sessions?
- Adam: Being a part of Fallen Angels has taught me that I’m in control of my own head, and it’s really helped with my mental health. Staying open-minded throughout the process has actually been a good way of distracting myself and releasing energy, both good and bad.
- Brandon: I’ve been attending Fallen Angels sessions for 7 weeks or so. The workshops give me a bit of peace of mind. They help me feel comfortable, and the activities help others to be themselves. I think that maybe it helps us find ourselves in a way, and we feel as though we are free. Being in the sessions is great exercise, for one, and it’s also peaceful.
Would you recommend Fallen Angels Movement sessions to others in recovery?
- Adam: I would absolutely recommend the sessions to others. We’ve seen everyone in recovery here thrive, which proves what it does for people. Every week, I see people enjoying themselves and getting involved, and starting to think about having a career in the world. Through watching them, it’s clear that all of their problems just go away, even if just for a moment. It’s awesome.
- Brandon: I think anybody in recovery would find enjoyment in coming along. The staff are fantastic, and it’s a really safe space for everybody. You don’t have to worry about people judging, which is so important when you’re doing something like this.
