Join in our weekly sessions in Chester, supporting local people in recovery from addiction and those living with a mental health conditions to transform their lives through movement, creativity and connection. For regular attendees, we also offer a progression pathway to develop skills further.
All participants can optionally take part in regular community performances across the Northwest of England.

Weekly Movement Workshops
When: Mondays, 12:00pm-2pm
Where: Storyhouse, Chester
What: Moving Recovery Workshops and projects are led by professional dance artists from Fallen Angels through the artistic direction of Paul Bayes Kitcher – himself in recovery from addiction, with over 30 years professional experience in dance.
You can expect a high-quality experience including:
- Physical warm-up
- Exploration of our stories through creative movement
- Cool down and stretches
- Fun and laughter
The emphasis is on the group experience and achieving something special together. Some of our projects lead to performances when members of the group are ready and feel confident.
Weekly Wellbeing Sessions
When: Wednesdays, 10:30am-12:00pm
Where: Storyhouse, Chester
What: A small group activity that explores themes relating to lived experience and recovery through various desk-based media, including arts, crafts, and creative writing.
Progression Pathway Sessions:
When: Mondays, 10:00am-11:30am
Where: Storyhouse, Chester
What: Once you have been attending regularly for at least 6 months, there is chance to develop your skills further:
- Volunteer Supporting Angels take part in free training to build skills in how to support participants and creative work during workshops. There is also the opportunity to work towards a Level 2 qualification in peer mentoring.
- Recovery Artists – for those who display a particular flair in their movement and creative work, and would like to advance their skills in choreography, creativity, dance technique, and performance further.
Additional activities include:
- Occasional group cultural visits, including theatre trips at local venues
- Recovery social events
- Nationwide performance opportunities
