Professional Development
Fallen Angels Dance Theatre are nationally renowned for their practice of dance for people in recovery from addiction and/or mental health issues.
Since 2011 Artistic Director Paul Bayes Kitcher has developed this unique
practice that places FADT participants at the heart of our work, from sharing their
stories in our research and development process, to performing in our professional company. Showing how creative intervention can make a positive and lasting change in recovery from addiction.
Paul believes that the trauma that surrounds and is involved in addiction is present in the body and the mind. The physical trace of this trauma is inherent in his
choreography. Through FADT’s workshops, he works with people in recovery from
addiction to articulate their experiences through movement and this is carried into his creative process through signature choreography that seeks to show how the body expresses the story of addiction and moves to a place of reconciliation and recovery. We blur the line between participatory practice and professional performance through signature movement that is used throughout our work and is grounded in the lived experience.
Fallen Angels Dance Theatre has delivered CPD for dance professionals at Rubicon Dance, New Adventures, NEW Dance, DanceXchange, and Cheshire Dance. For more information about our professional development workshops and training: Contact: claire@fallenangelsdt.org Or sign up to our mailing list for
